Dedicated to Preserving the OM System
Our Warranty
The standard Camtech warranty is 6 months on cameras and lens repairs,  30 days on used electronic sales. The Camtech repair warranty is voided if equipment is exposed to sand, impact, water, tampering or any other form of abuse. Warranty is transferable DURING the warranty period (pending inspection of equipment).  No warranty on any accessories such as hot shoes,  ttl connectors, flash cords etc.

Pointing the camera at a wall following an overhaul and deciding shutter speeds / meter are not correct because "they don't sound right" does not constitute a "defect".  If you request a warranty repair under this criteria, you may pay shipping charges both ways.  Home made shutter/meter tests mean nothing.   Comparing the meter in an overhauled camera to a collection of old cameras which have never been overhauled (and finding that the overhauled camera reading is different)  also does not constitute grounds for warranty service.  Likewise,  going over the outside of a camera with a high powered magnifier looking for defects does not constitute the need for warranty service.

No warranty if OM bodies are used with "soft  release" buttons.  These add-ons (not made by Olympus) change the design of the camera, raising the profile of the release button so high that if anything hits the top of the body, the release absorbs all the force and causes damage to multiple levers inside the body.  Use a "soft release" button at your own risk.

OM - 2 / 2N / 2S / 3 / 3Ti / 4 / 4T / 4Ti / 10,  G, 20, F, 30, PC / 40 / XA Series repairs are covered by a limited warranty that does not include the main circuit. Circuits for these cameras are not available and therefore not warranted.  IOW, no warranty on the main circuit in any Olympus electronic film camera.  No warranty regarding possible failure of mechanical meter movement itself in OM-1/1N, 2/2N.

Cameras that fail during the warranty period MUST be received by Camtech while the warranty is in effect, for that camera to re-examined and repaired under the warranty. Telling me about an defect by phone call or email does not in any way extend the warranty. A camera will be redone under warranty ONLY if it is received during the warranty period (or within a reasonable time, that being within 10 days of the warranty expiring.)   ALL shipping costs to CPS are the customers responsibility.

A redo or rework does not start a new 6 month warranty. Rework warranty is time remaining on original warranty or 30 days, whichever is greater.

The Camtech warranty is cancelled and void if the item is worked on by anyone other than Camtech (CPS, Inc.) during the warranty period.  No refunds or reimbursments in such cases.  All repair charges from other repair shops are the customers responsibility.

Equipment that is returned to Camtech for rework during the warranty will be repaired (specific area of defect only) and returned to customer by Priority Mail with shipping prepaid by CPS.  Micro inspection of equipment with magnifiers may reveal tiny blemishes and/or defects.  Such blemishes, dust etc. are not defects and are not covered by the warranty.

The warranty starts when the repair is shipped, plus about 5 days allotted for transit time within the US. The customer is responsible for using the equipment during the warranty. If the camera is put in a closet or drawer for 6 months, the warranty will pass by and expire. The warranty is entirely time based and is not affected by whether or not the camera equipment is used. Please use it!
Repairs left (or estimates not responded to) for more than 6 months will be considered abandoned and may be sold to recover costs.

Used items (mechanical film cameras and lenses) are warranted for 3 months (90 Days), unless otherwise specified on specific items. Electronic sale items are warranted for 30 days (no warranty on batteries).
Repair part sales carry no warranty of any kind. Purchase of camera repair parts is at the end users own risk. Repair skills vary widely from good to none. I have no control how parts may be handled by well meaning end users. No warranty on any reapir part sales,  No refunds, exchanges, returns, credits on repair parts, EVER. Experienced repair technicians know how to handle repair parts, the average end user (while well intentioned) may not.

Warranty does not cover the circuit board in ANY OM body (most are no longer available).  Warranty also does not cover possible  failure of mechanical meter movements in OM-1/1N, 2/2N.
